The expansion of North Korea's Yongbyon nuclear facility has been completed, potentially triggering a surge in its nuclear arsenal.
Numerous Western media outlets report that satellite imagery confirms the completion of a building at the Yongbyon Scientific Research Center, believed to be a new uranium enrichment plant. The structure is equipped with generators, fuel storage tanks, cooling systems, and auxiliary facilities. It is located approximately 480 meters from the radiochemical laboratory and about 1,800 meters from the existing centrifuge workshop.
Based on its parameters and scale, this new facility in Yongbyon closely resembles North Korea's Kangwon Province uranium enrichment plant. If indeed a uranium enrichment facility, once operational, it could significantly increase North Korea's production of weapons-grade nuclear material, substantially expanding its nuclear arsenal over the coming years.
