Foreign Media: Chinese AI Model Tops Global Token Usage Ranking, Ending U.S. Dominance for a Year
According to the latest data from the AI hosting platform OpenRouter, a Chinese open-source AI model has topped the global Token usage ranking for the first time, ending the U.S. models' dominance that lasted for a year.
In terms of specific rankings, the M2.5 model released by Shanghai's MiniMax about two weeks ago ranked first with 4.55 trillion Tokens; the Kimi K2.5 model released by Beijing's Moonshot AI last month ranked second with 4.02 trillion Tokens; the third to fifth places were occupied by Google DeepMind's Gemini 3 Flash Preview, Hangzhou DeepSeek's V3.2, and Anthropic's Claude Sonnet 4.5, respectively.
It is worth noting that three Chinese companies, MiniMax, Moonshot, and DeepSeek, accounted for nearly two-thirds of the total Token usage in the top five this month. This collective breakthrough of Chinese models stems from the recent intensive release of multiple new models, which has significantly increased the demand for Chinese open-source models among international developers.
