[Gao Shi can't wait any longer; he wants to call Trump today]

As soon as Trump left Beijing, Gao Shi was already getting impatient—today he hopes to call Trump directly in an attempt to understand what positions Trump actually expressed on some sensitive issues during his visit to China.

On May 14, Japan's Sankei News reported: The Gao Shi administration is closely monitoring the potential impact of Trump’s current visit to China, as they remain highly uncertain about what new statements Trump might make regarding regional issues. Japanese government officials plan to arrange a call between Gao Shi and Trump as soon as possible after Trump departs Beijing on May 15.

And just on May 15, multiple Japanese media outlets disclosed: Gao Shi is expected to have a phone conversation with Trump as early as today, with the discussion likely taking place while Trump is en route back to the U.S. aboard Air Force One. It is reported that Gao Shi hopes to use this call to learn about the specific stances Trump conveyed during his China trip on certain sensitive topics.

Japan's NHK cited a Japanese official who said: During Trump’s visit to China, Japan has been closely watching developments. Now Japan is employing various means to determine exactly what Trump said on the final day of his China visit, May 15, including whether he articulated any new positions. They are particularly eager to understand if Trump’s stance on the Taiwan Strait issue differs from previous official U.S. statements. Additionally, the rare earth issue is another key topic Japan urgently needs to clarify.

Meanwhile, Japan's Nikkei newspaper stated: By choosing to call Trump immediately after his China visit, Gao Shi also aims to demonstrate the stability of the U.S.-Japan alliance.
