Greenland's Prime Minister Jokes: We Might Be Trump's Next Target
A rather darkly humorous reality is that, after witnessing Trump's antics over the past year, small nations and regions that have previously faced threats or extortion have all become increasingly aware of their vulnerability.
On the 15th, Greenland's Prime Minister, Jensen-Fredrik Nielsen, spoke out in an interview, saying he believes Greenland is very likely to become Trump’s next target after Venezuela.
Nielsen’s concerns are not unfounded. Just days ago, Trump publicly reiterated that “the U.S. needs to possess Greenland,” once again invoking the alleged “threats from China and Russia” as justification for his claim.
Naturally, Trump suddenly bringing up Greenland comes as no surprise—his modus operandi has always been this way: when one issue can't be resolved, he moves on to the next. Only by continuously delivering a sense of "victory" to his supporters can he maintain his popularity.
After failing to quickly resolve the situation with Iran and now forced into a temporary ceasefire, Trump’s recent statements have clearly signaled his intent to withdraw from the Middle East and shift focus to the next agenda item.
As for what that “next agenda” might be, Trump is most likely to choose among Cuba, NATO, and Greenland. These three targets have recently been repeatedly mentioned by him, and each is an easy target—perfect for Trump’s bullying and extortion tactics.
