Foreign media: U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplier Venture Global has signed a 20-year LNG supply agreement with Japan's Mitsui & Co., Ltd., supplying 1 million tons annually.
As the world's second-largest LNG importer, Japan is seeking stable energy supplies to support the rapid development of data centers. It is expected that by 2034, the electricity demand for data centers will be equivalent to that of 15 to 18 million households, accounting for 60% of Japan's increase in electricity demand.
This agreement is Venture Global's third long-term supply agreement with Japanese buyers, following previous agreements with JERA and INPEX. The agreement also aligns with the U.S. strategy to expand LNG exports, as the U.S. has become the world's largest LNG exporter.
