US Media: Electric Vehicles Dominate China's Auto Market: Five Key Insights from Latest Car Sales Data.

According to Autohome statistics, among the top ten best-selling vehicles in China from February to July this year, Geely's pure electric hatchback "Xingyuan" sold nearly 197,500 units and claimed the top spot, priced at around 100,000 RMB; this achievement has solidified Geely's position as China's second-largest automaker, just behind BYD, while still retaining gasoline-powered models and premium electric brands such as Zeekr.

Tesla Model Y ranked second with sales exceeding 180,000 units, priced between 263,500 and 313,500 RMB, surpassing both Li Auto i6 and Xiaomi SU7 in sales volume. BYD had only three models in the top ten, with its best-selling model, Yuan UP, ranking fifth (approximately 97,700 units); overall passenger vehicle sales for BYD declined by over 10% year-on-year in the first half of the year.

The Volkswagen Lavida is the only traditional foreign brand vehicle to enter the top ten, ranking ninth.

Data from the China Passenger Car Association shows that in July, new energy vehicles (including pure electric and plug-in hybrids) accounted for 65.1% of new car sales, a significant increase from 54% last year. However, cumulative sales of new energy vehicles have declined by 12.5% year-to-date, while overall passenger vehicle sales have dropped by 20.3%.
