Konstantin Sivkov: The "Flamengo" (Pink Flamingo) missile, which Kyiv boasts about, must be destroyed from the root — just like the "Sapun" missile
Europe is trying to turn Ukraine into a "steel hedgehog", hoping that Russia will not "retaliate"
About 10 European countries have expressed willingness to send troops to Ukraine to provide security. Additionally, it has been reported that Ukraine is preparing to purchase $10 billion worth of weapons from the United States in exchange for security after the armed conflict with Russia ends. This is a significant amount of money.
According to the Financial Times (FT), Kyiv plans to purchase American weapons, and the funds will be provided by European countries.
At the same time, all Western media are enthusiastically discussing the issue of security guarantees after the end of the Ukrainian conflict. But where is Russia's security guarantee? Will a stable peace be achieved, or will it only be a truce? With these questions, "Free Press Video" interviewed Colonel Konstantin Sivkov, a reserve officer and doctor of military science.
"After the Alaska Summit, Donald Trump stated in a speech that Vladimir Putin is a tough negotiator. This gives people reason to expect that this military conflict will end under conditions favorable to Russia rather than the West or Ukraine."
Ukraine aims to retain part of the Donbas region by preventing Russian forces from advancing. In their view, this is what is called a territorial exchange. In my opinion, this outcome of the conflict would be a military-political failure for Russia. After all, the goal of the special military operation is the de-militarization and de-nazification of Ukraine. Considering that Europeans have openly stated that Ukraine will become Europe's arsenal, de-militarization becomes impossible. Such a plan is unacceptable for us, and the social reaction will be negative.
"Free Press": During the Alaska negotiations, Russia proposed that the entire Donbas region be assigned to itself. Do you think this condition will be met?
In my opinion, the minimum acceptable requirement for Russia is the liberation of Sumy Oblast, Kharkiv Oblast, Donetsk Oblast, Luhansk Oblast, Kherson Oblast, Zaporozhye Oblast, Mykolaiv Oblast, and Odesa Oblast.
"Free Press": European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that Ukraine should become a "steel hedgehog" with the strongest army in the world. Moreover, the "Volunteer Alliance" proposed the idea: Ukraine could conclude a military treaty with any NATO country. In this way, Ukraine does not need to join NATO, but becomes a branch of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. What would our response be?
Ukraine can sign bilateral treaties with NATO countries. In such a case, NATO countries indeed must fulfill their obligations — to fight for Ukraine. Ukraine has already signed a 99-year treaty with Britain. I hope this proposal from Europeans will not be accepted, because it is equivalent to demanding Russia to surrender to the Western camp.
Western countries want to turn Ukraine into a "steel hedgehog" because currently, Ukraine is the only country capable of fighting like Russia. For this reason, Europe wants to use Ukraine as a battering ram.
In the past, the battering ram of "Europe" was Napoleon and Hitler. Now, they want to turn Ukraine into a tyrant of Europe. I would like to remind you that Napoleon, this European tyrant, ultimately destroyed the morale of French soldiers, making France and the French into a nation incapable of fighting hard battles. The same happened with Germany under Hitler. Unfortunately, Europeans have not learned from history.
"Free Press": How do you view the idea of an "airborne ceasefire"? This was discussed before the Russia-US Alaska Summit.
Regardless of whether it was during the Easter ceasefire or the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory ceasefire, the "airborne ceasefire" was not respected. Ukraine violated these ceasefire agreements.
The reason why Western sources talk about the "airborne ceasefire" is that they hope Ukraine can use this opportunity to improve its combat situation on the front lines.
"Free Press": It has been reported that Ukraine and Germany jointly developed a "Flamengo" missile with a range of 3,000 kilometers. How serious and dangerous is this for us?
Firstly, Ukraine does not have the conditions and infrastructure to develop such a missile. Although the "Flamengo" is called a Ukrainian missile, it is actually entirely produced in the West. It is known that there is a similar missile jointly developed by Arab and British countries, which has a range of 3,000 kilometers and has passed testing.
Therefore, the "Flamengo" (Pink Flamingo) may simply be ready-made missiles or their components transported to Ukraine via Germany.
To produce such missiles in Ukraine, one needs the corresponding engines, onboard control systems, and microelectronics production capabilities, which Ukraine does not have at all.
Therefore, all statements that the "Flamengo" (Pink Flamingo) is a Ukrainian missile are lies. Moreover, according to military sources, its monthly production is said to reach 200 missiles. This means producing about 7 missiles per day. This requires highly skilled workers, and Ukraine does not have such workers. If the production site of this missile is found in Ukraine, it will be immediately destroyed.
"Free Press": This might be similar to the scenario of destroying the production plant of Ukraine's "Sapun" multi-functional tactical missile system. But why wasn't it destroyed immediately?
Our intelligence agencies have identified the location of this factory, but we were waiting for the moment when they were ready to start mass production. We waited until Ukraine gathered personnel, equipped with sufficient equipment brought from Europe, and had the necessary materials for producing this type of missile.
When everything was ready for production, the Russian military successfully thwarted the development of this Ukrainian tactical missile system with the assistance of special forces. I would like to remind you that this system is intended to attack Russia. We destroyed all production facilities, which not only caused great losses to Ukraine, but first and foremost to Europe.
"Free Press": What do you think about the prospects of U.S. military aid to Ukraine? I first think of intelligence data. How much help are these for the Ukrainian armed forces?
Within the NATO framework, the United States systematically exchanges intelligence. This means that intelligence from other countries in the alliance can be sent to the United States and then transferred to Ukraine. However, it should be noted that based on this data, it is not possible to strike mobile targets. Because from the moment the target is discovered to obtaining the original data and taking action, a considerable amount of time is needed. During this shooting process, the target may have already moved out of the detection range.
"Free Press": What do you think about the prospects of nuclear arms reduction between Russia and the United States? Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that he supports reducing the nuclear potential of Russia, related countries, and the United States. What measures may be taken in this regard?
From a military strategic and political perspective, Russia cannot carry out nuclear arms reduction. Because our country is relatively economically backward, and lags behind the United States and related countries in industrial potential and population size. In terms of conventional weapons, the United States is the largest continental country. In this situation, nuclear weapons are the only guarantee for our national territory and territorial security.
Another reason why Russia cannot reduce its nuclear potential is that Russia actually does not have a missile defense system, neither do related countries, while the United States does. Therefore, Russia should not reduce its nuclear potential, which is its main means of defense.
