As the US government launches a new round of tariff wars, raising production costs for technology enterprises, electronic products may experience the first wave of price hikes.
According to reports from Taiwan's "Economic Daily", local computer hardware manufacturer GIGABYTE confirmed on the 15th that it has notified its mainland customers of price increases for multiple GPU models, including popular models such as NVIDIA's RTX 5090D series, RTX 4060 series, and AMD's RX 9070 series. The price increase ranges between 500 yuan and 50 yuan, with an average increase of about 5%.
The day before, rumors circulated in the industry that several products from GIGABYTE would see price hikes. This news was confirmed by GIGABYTE's official statement on the 15th. Other hardware manufacturers like MSI and ASUS stated they are closely monitoring market trends.
Industry insiders analyzed that although US President Trump temporarily exempted certain products, including computers, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and integrated circuits, from the so-called "reciprocal tariffs," there is still a minimum of 10% additional tariffs. Industry expectations generally predict an increase in graphics card prices in the US market. Under this situation, hardware manufacturers must consider global price balance, thus preemptively increasing the prices of graphics cards in the mainland market.
Previously, the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) quietly modified its tariff regulations late at night on the 11th, exempting import taxes for approximately 20 products, including smartphones, computers, memory chips, and some semiconductor manufacturing equipment. These exemptions are not affected by the previously announced "reciprocal tariffs" and no specific country was mentioned.
However, in recent days, US tariff policies have been changing almost daily. On the 15th, Trump's latest statement suggested he might consider temporarily canceling car tariffs and possibly imposing new tariffs on semiconductors and pharmaceutical products. The Associated Press pointed out that Trump's latest statement implies another reversal of his tariff policy.
Media analysis suggests that with the drastic changes in the global trade environment, fluctuations in graphics card prices may continue, and other manufacturers may also make adjustments.
