Chinese Humanoid Robot Walks Continuously for 3 Days, Sets Guinness World Record

AFP Shanghai report: A Chinese robot has set a Guinness World Record by walking continuously for three days and covering more than 100 kilometers, which is the longest distance record for humanoid robots in terms of walking.

AFP reports that the two-legged robot, named AgiBot A2, is 1.69 meters tall. According to Guinness World Records, it started its journey from Suzhou in eastern China at night on November 10, crossed highways and streets, and arrived at the historic Bund area in Shanghai on November 13.

The Shanghai-based AgiBot company that developed this two-legged robot guarantees that during the 106.286-kilometer non-stop journey, "it traversed various different surfaces... while obeying traffic rules." This feat was confirmed as the first such record last Thursday.

Publicity videos show the black and silver AgiBot A2 slowly and firmly walking towards Shanghai along the road.

The design purpose of the A2 robot is to perform tasks such as serving customers. It is equipped with "conversational" functions and can read lips.

Global technology companies are investing heavily in "Physical AI," a technology that incorporates physical laws and can perceive and adapt to the human world. Morgan Stanley predicts that by 2050, the global number of humanoid robots may exceed 1 billion units.

AFP pointed out that the Chinese government is encouraging domestic companies to develop such robots, hoping to become a global leader in this industry.

Beijing hosted the first World Humanoid Robot Games this August, where more than 500 "athletes" competed in various events such as basketball, dancing, and even hotel room cleaning.
