Japan's report comes late: During the PLA exercise, the H-6 carried real ammunition across the Miyako Strait

On January 5th, Japan's Ministry of Defense finally finished its New Year holiday and returned to work.

On that day, the defense ministry released photos and flight path maps of the Chinese military aircraft taken by the Self-Defense Forces during the recent "Justice Mission-2025" exercise of the PLA, confirming that on December 29, 2025, the PLA dispatched two H-6K bombers, two J-16 fighters, and two Y-9 intelligence aircraft crossing the Miyako Strait.

Notably, the Japanese report also mentioned two unidentified "presumed fighter jets," but no photos were released - indicating that the Air Self-Defense Force should have detected these two aircraft, but failed to track them.

Additionally, according to the flight path map of the PLA aircraft released by the Japanese side, at that time, our military should have been practicing area denial / anti-access capabilities - all PLA aircraft photographed by the Air Self-Defense Force were carrying live ammunition, especially the H-6K carrying AKD-20 air-launched cruise missiles.
