Clinton statement: The Epstein case has nothing to do with me

The U.S. Department of Justice on the 14th initiated an investigation into the relationship between the late billionaire "pervert" Jeffrey Epstein and former President Bill Clinton and several prominent Democratic figures, in accordance with the request of President Trump. Clinton's side issued a brief statement in response on the 15th.

Clinton's spokesperson Angel Ureña posted on the social media platform X that: "These emails prove that Clinton was neither involved nor aware of it. Other noise is just to divert public attention from the negative impact of election loss, government shutdown, and other issues."

With the release of the latest batch of emails related to Epstein, Trump faces greater pressure. On the 14th, Trump posted on Truth Social that he would instruct Attorney General Bondi and the FBI to investigate the "relationships and involvement" between Epstein and Clinton, former Treasury Secretary Summers, Democratic donors, and LinkedIn co-founder Hoffman.

As of now, none of the individuals named by Trump have been accused by Epstein's victims.

Hours later, Bondi quickly announced that she had instructed the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Clayton, to investigate the correspondence between Epstein and Democratic figures.

The Newsweek reported that the Department of Justice's investigation, as required by Trump, has raised doubts about the independence of federal law enforcement and potential political motives; at the same time, calls for a comprehensive review of Epstein's network and seeking justice for survivors are increasing.

Clinton previously admitted that he did indeed take Epstein's private jet multiple times to handle matters related to the Clinton Foundation, but insisted that he had no improper conduct.

It is expected that the Department of Justice's investigation will focus on the newly released emails, financial records, and testimonies to clarify Epstein's network of relationships.

The BBC reported in August this year that the chairperson of the House Oversight Committee, Comer, led by Republicans, had issued subpoenas to Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and eight others, requiring them to testify about the Epstein case. (Rural Cat)
