Reference News, July 6 - According to AFP, on July 6, Russia stated that it had occupied two settlements in eastern Ukraine, one in the Donetsk region and one in the Kharkiv region.
Ukraine did not immediately comment on Russia's statement.
For more than a year, Moscow has been struggling to advance on the front lines and has taken full advantage of its superiority against the overextended and undermanned Ukrainian forces.
On June 6, Russia said it had captured the village of Pidhoryntsi in Donetsk and the village of Sobolivka in Kharkiv.
Before the conflict broke out, Pidhoryntsi village had about 500 residents, and the village is only 7 kilometers from the important Dnipropetrovsk region in central Ukraine.
According to the battlefield map from the Institute for the Study of War, the village of Sobolivka is located about 3 kilometers west of Kupiansk town, outside the areas previously claimed by Russia. (Translated by Xu Yanhong)
