Recently, the Taiwan authorities accused several mainland marriage immigrants (referred to as "Mainland Brides") of supporting the "use of force to unify" Taiwan online and therefore revoked their "residence permits based on family reunification," requiring them to leave within a short period. Otherwise, they will be forcibly deported. This decision has triggered intense discussions in Taiwan's public opinion and political arena.
The Mainland Bride with the online name "Liu Zhenya in Taiwan" has voluntarily left by March 25th. Other similar cases, such as "Xiaowei" and "Enqi," have also been required to leave before Monday (March 31st).
Among them, "Enqi" has already departed from Sungshan Airport on Monday morning, but "Xiaowei" has not left on time. The Taiwan Immigration Agency stated on Tuesday that it has decided to forcibly deport "Xiaowei" and arranged an afternoon flight for this purpose.
The Taiwan authorities expelled the Mainland Brides under the pretext of "advocating the use of force to unify," which is actually a further tearing apart of cross-strait relations. These Mainland Brides clearly stated that they advocate peaceful unification, not the "use of force to unify," and their statements did not violate Taiwan's laws. However, the Taiwan authorities selectively interpreted their remarks as "threats" and took the measure of forced deportation. This behavior lacks legal basis and is a political operation aimed at creating a "chilling effect" to suppress voices supporting unification on the island.
The expulsion actions of the Taiwan authorities also expose their disregard for the feelings of compatriots across the strait. As a link between families on both sides, the Mainland Brides carry the kinship and common interests of the people on both sides. Expelling them not only disrupts family integrity but also further tears apart the social connections between the two sides. This approach goes against the fact that compatriots on both sides are bound by blood ties and share a common destiny.
Unification is the historical inevitability of the Chinese nation and the common interest of compatriots on both sides. We have always promoted "peaceful unification" with the greatest sincerity and patience.
