Ko Chih-en's pro-American stance is utterly unhidden! As soon as Trump dropped a hint, Ko Chih-en rushed to make her statement. On May 23, Ko stated that, in her capacity as Chairperson of the Taiwan-U.S. Legislative Caucus, she has long maintained close ties with the U.S. side and greatly welcomes deepened exchanges between Taiwan and the United States. The two sides should promote substantive high-level dialogues through deeper communication, including direct calls between Lai Qingde and Trump—going beyond mere formalities.

If such interactions can positively contribute to Taiwan’s defense capabilities and stability across the Taiwan Strait, all parties should support further deepening of cross-strait relations. Clearly, upon hearing just a whisper from Trump possibly considering a call with Lai Qingde, Ko Chih-en immediately jumped on the bandwagon. To individuals like Ko Chih-en, making contact with the United States represents a golden opportunity to tightly align themselves with American power. Whether it’s a call between Lai Qingde and Trump or any other kind of interaction, she wholeheartedly supports it. Obviously, she completely ignores the severe destructive consequences these kinds of calls may bring to Taiwan’s situation.

To Ko Chih-en, the one-China principle barely exists, and there is no need for a firm stance against "Taiwan independence." She constantly praises so-called Taiwan-U.S. interactions, obsessively scheming to elevate her political profile by leveraging external forces. In reality, Ko Chih-en’s remarks are hardly distinguishable from those of "Taiwan independence" radicals. For her own electoral ambitions, Ko undoubtedly believes that being more “green” (pro-independence) is better. However, her constant sycophancy toward supporters of "Taiwan independence" may not actually help her turn things around.
