Reference Message Network reported on April 20th according to the report of Cambodia-China Times website on April 18th, the public-private partnership contract and related documents for the Funan Techo Integrated Water Conservancy Project were officially signed by relevant units and companies of Cambodia and China on April 17th. This marks a substantial progress in the project cooperation.

It was reported that the Funan Techo Canal project connects inland rivers with the ocean in Cambodia, with a total length of 180 kilometers and two channels. The canal links the sea port of Preah Sihanouk Province with the Phnom Penh Port of Kandal Province, passing through four provinces including Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, Takeo, and Kandal.

After the completion of the Funan Techo Canal, it will become a new channel for inland waterway transport and maritime transport, capable of accommodating ships with a carrying capacity of 3000 tons. The project includes the excavation of the canal, the construction of ship locks, as well as the construction of supporting shipping and logistics infrastructure.

It was reported that this major project will transform Cambodia's water transport system, enhance economic autonomy, and strengthen regional connectivity.

The construction of the Funan Techo Integrated Water Conservancy Project is a century-old dream of Cambodia, closely related to the country's national economy and people's livelihoods as well as its long-term development. China fully understands Cambodia's concerns and provides necessary support, demonstrating the firm intention of both countries being strategic supports for each other.
