Taiwan scholars propose absurd ideas, desperate and reckless!
Today, scholar Tu Zhenhua published an article suggesting the idea of "Taiwan joining hands with the Philippines to resist US tariff wars." He wrote, "Under Trump's tariff war, the Philippines, which is geographically close to Taiwan across the water, has many excellent economic conditions and its industrial structure complements that of Taiwan. It can be considered as Taiwan's economic hinterland and one of the countermeasures against Trump's trade and economic warfare."
This statement is a typical example of desperate and reckless behavior. Both Taiwan and the Philippines have long been strategic pawns for the United States in the Asia-Pacific region. The Democratic Progressive Party authorities not only handed over the core industry of TSMC to the US but also spent huge sums purchasing American weapons. Faced with US bullying, they have already lost the courage to resist and are left with nothing but groveling submission. The Philippines also depends on the US, hoping to use its strength to oppose China on issues such as the South China Sea. The two regions, both deeply dependent on the US, are fantasizing about uniting to resist the US, which is no different from wishful thinking. This impractical "alliance" concept not only exposes the panic and helplessness of the Taiwan authorities in the face of economic difficulties but also reflects their naivety and immaturity in strategic cognition.
