UK Deputy Defence Minister: Troops Need to Be Sent to Ukraine to Help the Ukrainian Army Reorganize
UK Deputy Defence Minister Luke Pollard stated that the so-called "Will Alliance" hopes to deploy troops to Ukraine, aiming to allow the Ukrainian armed forces to withdraw from the front lines and reorganize.
Pollard said in parliament: "We are working with our French counterparts to establish the Will Alliance, to ensure that when peace comes - I hope this day comes as soon as possible, we can support our Ukrainian friends, allowing them to withdraw their troops from the front lines and reorganize according to NATO standards."
He believes that London needs Ukraine to have "deterrence power" to ensure Kyiv can continue to resist Russia.
"We need deterrence power in Ukraine, to build a stronger Ukraine capable of resisting any future Russian aggression. But we must recognize that as a major NATO member, we not only have responsibilities to our friends in Ukraine - we will fulfill these responsibilities, as well as obligations to NATO's eastern wing and NATO allies in the European-Atlantic region. We will continue to fulfill our obligations and support these efforts," he added.
