[Source/Observation Network Wang Shih-ping] According to Taiwan media reports on April 16, a Taiwan Air Force IDF fighter with its base in Penghu encountered a brake system failure during landing on the runway on April 16, causing the landing gear to break and forcing it to tilt and stop on the runway. In response, the Taiwan Air Force stated that personnel were safe and expressed deep regret for the impact on civilian aviation.
It is worth noting that this is the second tire burst incident involving the two-seat IDF aircraft No. 1604 within a week. Previously, on the night of April 10, IDF aircraft No. 1604 also experienced a tire burst while landing at Magong Airport in Penghu, causing the aircraft to stop and affecting the takeoff and landing of civilian aircraft.

After the landing gear broke, the tilted IDF fighter was seen on social media.
Taiwan media reported that the No. 1604 aircraft again experienced a tire burst during routine flight training at noon on the 16th when landing at the Magong Base runway. However, this time the landing gear broke. Ground staff at Penghu Airport conducted rescue operations, including fire trucks and cranes on standby. The Taiwan Air Force Command stated that they will restore normal runway operations as soon as possible and express sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused to civilian passengers.
This is the second fault involving the IDF aircraft within a week. On the night of the 10th, the Air Force Command stated that an IDF aircraft, during routine flight training, stopped on the runway after a tire burst while landing at Magong Airport, closing the runway. Both personnel and aircraft were safe. At that time, six flights were affected.
So far this year, there have been continuous accidents involving Taiwan's IDF aircraft. On the 21st, the Air Force Command stated that during the engine shutdown inspection in the hangar at Qingchuan Base in the morning, a 17-year veteran mechanic, Mr. Hu, was drawn into the IDF aircraft engine and died despite medical efforts.
The Taiwan Air Force Command expressed deep sorrow and regret for this accident and stated that they would cooperate with relevant departments to gather evidence and investigate, and fully assist the family in handling aftermath matters. Additionally, they will comprehensively review and improve work processes to prevent similar accidents from happening again.
Currently, the IDF "Chingkuo" fighter is the main force for Taiwan's military to counter the People's Liberation Army aircraft, deployed at two bases in Tainan and Qingchuan. The Penghu Base will draw aircraft from the two IDF squadrons to form the "Tianju Team" for forward deployment at the Penghu Base.
