According to The Orlando Sentinel, the U.S. conducted another test of the "Dark Eagle" hypersonic missile developed for the U.S. Army and Navy. The previous test of this missile was conducted in December 2024 and was deemed successful.
A day earlier, the Pentagon released a statement confirming that the missile would be named "Dark Eagle." Prior to this, the name of the missile had not been mentioned on the U.S. military website.
"The new hypersonic weapon will make it harder for the enemy to make decisions and enhance deterrence against enemies," said Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology and senior official Patrick Mason.
"Its speed, precision, and versatility are consistent with its new popular name 'Dark Eagle,'" he added.
Developed by Lockheed Martin, the "Dark Eagle" can carry out large-scale strikes and is also capable of breaking through fortified defenses. It can fly at speeds exceeding 6000 kilometers per hour with a range of up to 3000 kilometers.
