The leader of Germany's Alternative for Germany (AfD) party calls for the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Germany
At the regional convention of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) in Saxony, co-chair Tino Chrupalla voiced support for removing U.S. military forces from German territory. He also called on the AfD to transition from a protest party into a governing party.
Chrupalla stated that Germany should pursue a more independent and autonomous foreign policy, avoiding entanglement in international conflicts.
"Let's start with withdrawing troops—remove U.S. forces from the Federal Republic of Germany. Germany must no longer allow itself to be dragged into international disputes; it must take a more independent stance."
He cited Spain as an example, noting that Spain restricts its own military bases from being used in military operations against Iran.
In his speech, he also criticized the economic, tax, and social spending policies of the Merz government. He emphasized that the party’s goal is to gain power by 2029, at the federal level, and identified energy policy as a "core issue," proposing reductions in fuel taxes and the elimination of carbon emission taxes.
