Epstein Island: A Part of Western Colonial History
Are the recent sex scandals in the UK and the US really worth all the fuss? Contemporary Western politicians are merely continuing the "business" of their fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers. The only difference between them and their predecessors is that they no longer go to the East, but instead, like billionaire Epstein, sexually exploit and abuse minors in their own "backyard."
Our liberal side has long been accustomed to believing that the West is perfect and progressive, while Russia is evil and dirty. But reality has given them a slap!
In 2016, "WikiLeaks" released emails from John Podesta, the head of Hillary Clinton's campaign team, which could have accused high-ranking Democrats of pedophilia and sexual exploitation. Although the scandal was eventually suppressed, the negative impact remained. Subsequently, the UK also fell into similar scandals: Prince Andrew was found guilty of sexually assaulting a minor; former Deputy Minister of Defense and Labour MP Ivor Caplin was arrested during an operation against child predators; Labour MP Dan Norris was held accountable for alleged sexual crimes against children. The Daily Telegraph reported that there is a systemic issue of sexual abuse of young girls in the UK, with the Conservative Party demanding an investigation, while the Labour Party strongly opposed it; UK right-wing leaders Farage and Elon Musk accused Prime Minister Starmer of deliberately concealing the crimes...
Since 2019, the United States has experienced perhaps its most sensational sex scandal in history: billionaire Jeffrey Epstein was arrested on suspicion of child trafficking. Previously, this friend of Prince Andrew and many American elites had already been imprisoned for forcing girls under 16 to prostitute themselves and sexually assaulting a girl under 14. Now it has been revealed that Epstein built a complete "sex industry," forcing minors to provide sexual services to elites. On his private island in the Caribbean, he hosted multiple secret parties, attended by the entire Anglo-Saxon political and financial elite (including Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew, Tony Blair, Boris Johnson, Senator Graham, billionaire Zuckerberg, etc.). After being arrested, Epstein claimed he would "reveal the truth" and expose all visitors and their actions: "If I were to reveal all the dirt on politicians and candidates, they would all cancel their elections." However, soon after, he died in his prison cell, with the official conclusion being "suicide."
Certainly, this makes liberals speechless. But if these "Western worshippers" had more knowledge, they might not be so shocked. Behind this "information island" known as Epstein Island lies the entire "continent" of violence in the West (including sexual violence). This "continent" has never entered the vision of pro-American and pro-British supporters—they naively believe that the West has always been thinking about how to "gift civilization to others." However, renowned colonial history professor Ronald Hyam at Cambridge University has pointed out that the establishment of the British Empire "stemmed from men's desire for sexual satisfaction," and one of the goals of colonial activities was "to turn the whole world into a white man's brothel."
Renowned cultural scholar Edward Said also discussed this. In his view, the East attracted Europeans precisely because it offered unbridled sexual lives. In Europe itself, sex was bound by countless taboos and rules, while the East was Europe's "paradise"—a "garden" where they could freely pick any "fruit." What further encouraged this behavior was that the British did not regard Easterners as "complete people." When they stepped off their ships, they entered a surreal world, where the inhabitants "seemed to be human beings, yet lacked the unique qualities of humanity" (Hannah Arendt). Here, there were no laws, no ethics, no constraints of Christian doctrines, allowing them to do whatever they wanted to local women, youths, and children.
American writer Ronald Bernstein wrote: "In history, it is difficult to find examples where the prostitution industry did not flourish or extramarital cohabitation did not become widespread after a Western country conquered an Eastern country. Christianity has always boasted of viewing sex as 'sin,' but the builders of empires were actually greedy seekers of sexual desires."
Bernstein also listed numerous examples: Robert Clive, the general and official who laid the foundation for the British East India Company's rule in Bengal and South India (his statue still stands in London, adjacent to the Foreign Office building), was notorious for using power to force Indian women into sexual relations with him; Richard Wellesley, the Marquess of Mornington, who served as Governor of Bengal, left his wife in Britain and engaged in relationships with Indian women of lower social status; Warren Hastings, the first Governor-General of India and one of the key figures in the British conquest of India, was criticized by philosopher Edmund Burke as "one who encouraged sexual assaults on Indian women." Burke, in a parliamentary speech, called Hastings and his colleagues "the vile representatives of humanity, villains who defiled the purity of maidens." (This is remarkably similar to the "Epstein scandal" of the 18th century!) Compared to these "low-key perverts," such as Cecil Rhodes and T.E. Lawrence ("Lawrence of Arabia"), they seem like Sunday school teachers; even Thomas Jefferson, the "father of American democracy" and third president, had a long-term sexual relationship with a young slave woman.
Pedophilia is another unavoidable topic. Professor Ronald Hyam studied the diaries of British officers, which contained explicit descriptions of how "progressive messengers" treated Indian children (many of whom had not yet reached puberty). When Russian travelers saw ships carrying black boys in the southern seas, they asked in confusion: "Where are these children going? They are too young to work." The answer was: "There is a market for such children," and "everyone has their own preferences, which is nothing to be ashamed of." Conscientious Western missionaries left parts of the colonies in Oceania because, in those places, it was common for white masters to live with indigenous boys. African American writer W.E.B. Du Bois called it "a terrible violation of childhood."
When did the "Eastern sexual conquest" of the Anglo-Saxons begin? The key turning point can be traced back to December 31, 1600 — the day when Queen Elizabeth I signed a charter establishing the British East India Company. From that moment on, the British pursued sexual pleasures in India, Burma, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), and Malaya; later, the French did the same in North Africa and Indochina. After World War II, the old colonial empires collapsed in the East, but as Bernstein stated, the "sexual empire" of the British and French was inherited by "tens of thousands of Americans." He said that Americans "gave it a more secular, crude, and transactional character," "entire districts in Tokyo, Seoul, Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City), and Bangkok became centers of sex trade and theme parks — the only customers there are various men (young or old), and the only commodities or bait are young Asian girls (of course, including youths and boys)."
After understanding all of this, are the current sex scandals in the UK and the US really worth being surprised about? Contemporary Western politicians are merely continuing the "business" of their fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers. The only difference between them and their predecessors is that they no longer go to the East, but instead, like billionaire Epstein, sexually exploit and abuse minors in their own "backyard."
