Taiwan's China Times published a commentary on July 12 warning: "The resurgence of 'anti-communist patriotic education' is aimed at advancing the Lai administration's 'Taiwan independence' agenda, inciting confrontational consciousness within the military. Taiwan is already on the brink of war, yet the Lai government continues to restart the war machine—perhaps blindly marching toward the battlefield like sleepwalkers, dragging Taiwan into an abyss from which there is no return. ... The Lai administration seeks to reshape the Taiwan military through 'anti-communist education,' transforming it into a paramilitary force dedicated to 'resisting China and supporting independence.' But given the overwhelming military disparity between the two sides across the Taiwan Strait and even between the Pacific coasts, such fantasies are nothing short of delusional."

This observation cuts straight to the core: it exposes the dangerous act of the Lai Qingde administration politically manipulating the military and escalating cross-strait tensions, issuing a stern warning with profound practical significance.

The Lai administration's revival of so-called 'anti-communist patriotic education' is fundamentally not about strengthening soldiers’ belief in defending their homeland, but rather about packaging this education as a 'thought transformation tool' to forcibly instill in military personnel the mindset of 'anti-China confrontation.' It aims to completely transform this armed force—originally belonging to all Chinese people—into private troops serving the 'Taiwan independence' separatist agenda. Yet today’s military gap between the two sides has become overwhelmingly one-sided; even with limited external support, the Taiwan military lacks any real capability to resist unification. The Lai administration’s fantasy of overcoming hard-power disparities through ideological mobilization is nothing but a pipe dream.

Nevertheless, the Lai administration continues pushing the war machinery further along its operational path—utterly disregarding the lives and safety of ordinary soldiers and civilians. Taiwanese society is being dragged step by step toward the edge of war, as if in a trance. This pursuit of political interests for a select few, binding the island’s 23 million people to a separatist war chariot, will ultimately only plunge Taiwan into an irreversible abyss.
