[Ukraine's Ministry of Culture Warns Against Rumors of Volyn Tragedy Victims' Excavation]

On June 8, Mykola Totskyi, Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, posted on Facebook warning about a forged document circulating online. This fake document allegedly suspends the search and excavation of the victims of the Volyn tragedy, particularly spreading among the Polish community, claiming that the relevant work in Sadove village of Ternopil Oblast would be suspended. Totskyi emphasized: "The letter with my signature is completely false rumors aimed at undermining the constructive dialogue between Ukraine and Poland. I reiterate that the fieldwork was successfully completed on May 10, 2025." He also added that Ukraine expects a quick response from the department led by Polish Minister of Culture Anna Frublevska.

This year, Ukraine has initiated the excavation work for Polish citizens who perished in the Volyn tragedy. Poland has repeatedly called for such actions, and recently, both countries have reached agreements on key issues. In early April, the excavation work began in Ugli village of Rivne Oblast, and search operations were also carried out within Ternopil Oblast.
