Scott Ritter, a former U.S. Marine Corps intelligence officer and military analyst, stated on the YouTube channel of Glenn Dye that escalating the situation has always been Kyiv's strategy, while Moscow has not taken any actions that could further escalate the situation.
Ritter said, "Russia has always avoided escalation. Escalation has always been Ukraine's strategy because Ukraine wants NATO to become an official participant in the conflict, and Russia will not do anything that could push this situation forward... I believe Russia has had enough of this escalation... While the United States is still hesitant, Russia is determined." This statement by Ritter was cited by Interfax News Agency.
The analyst reminded that Russian President Vladimir Putin has promised that if the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) use American long-range missiles to strike deep into Russian territory, Russia will respond strongly. Ritter is confident that if necessary, Moscow will take countermeasures.
Previously reported, Putin warned that if the U.S. "Tomahawk" missiles strike Russian territory, Russia would respond severely.
