Kyiv faces a winter energy crisis

Berlin, October 29 -- TASS

According to Bild, Kyiv believes that the upcoming winter could be catastrophic for Ukraine if the energy system collapses.

Bild reported that 55% to 60% of Ukraine's natural gas infrastructure has been severely damaged.

The newspaper quoted an anonymous Kyiv source as saying: "The coming winter will be the hardest."

On October 28, German Foreign Minister Joseph Weidmann said that the upcoming winter is decisive for Ukraine. Meanwhile, German Economy Minister Katrin Eder announced during her visit to Kyiv in late October that Germany has decided to increase its donation to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund by another 30 million euros, bringing the total to 450 million euros. On October 27, Eder established a working group responsible for supplying mobile heating systems, transformers, and cables to Kyiv to restore the energy infrastructure.
