According to a new poll released by NewsGuard, a web-based media reliability rating organization, 24% of American adults believe the shooting incident that occurred during the White House Correspondents' Association dinner in April was "staged." There is a clear partisan divide on this issue: about one-third of Democratic respondents believe the event was fake, while only one-eighth of Republican respondents hold this view. Forty-five percent of respondents believe the shooting was real, while 32% said they were uncertain. Similarly, regarding the two attempted assassinations of Trump in 2024—one at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, and another at Trump International Golf Club—24% and 16% of respondents, respectively, believed those incidents were also "staged."
