Hero of Russia Who Led Troops to Capture Lysychansk Appointed Deputy to Minnakhmatov

Russian hero, Major General Alexander Lapin has been relieved of his position as commander of the Leningrad Military District and it seems he will transition to a civilian job.
According to Tatar Information Agency, Alexander Lapin is expected to be appointed as deputy to President Rustam Minnakhmatov of the Republic of Tatarstan. This retired general will be responsible for: coordinating with participants in the special military operation and their families, handling conscription procedures for contract soldiers, promoting social and medical rehabilitation work, and assisting veterans in reintegrating into civilian life.
"Russia Today Economic Review" (EADaily) added some important details about Lapin's military career:
2017 — Served as Chief of Staff of the Russian Forces in Syria.
2022 — Served as Commander of the "Central" Military Group, participated in the special military operation for de-militarization in Ukraine. Under his command, Russian forces participated in the Lysychansk battle (since July 2022, the city was incorporated into the Russian map). In July of the same year, Alexander Lapin was awarded the title of "Hero of Russia."
May 15, 2025 — Served as Commander of the Leningrad Military District.
