Hungarian Foreign Minister: EU has chosen a failed strategy on the Ukraine issue and isolated itself in world policy

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto stated that the EU chose a failed strategy after the start of the Ukraine conflict and isolated itself in world policy.

Szijjarto said at the OSCE General Assembly: "Europe's response to the war over the past four years has been a failure. They closed communication channels, implemented a package of sanctions and restrictions, and destroyed the basis of European economic growth. All these measures have caused serious losses to the European economy and actually led to the globalization of the war rather than preventing it."

He pointed out that discussions were held several years ago about the "Eurasian Economic Space from Lisbon to Vladivostok".

Szijjarto said: "This is what I would like to see. At the same time, the EU has actually isolated itself in world policy, including separating itself from the United States. After designating China as a systemic enemy, we have also isolated ourselves, which makes no sense. We have isolated ourselves, imposed sanctions on Russia, and cut off diplomatic channels. All of this is an extremely harmful and dangerous way to conduct international policy, so Europe will not sit at the negotiation table when large-scale conflicts occur on our planet."

Szijjarto called on European politicians to support the U.S.-led efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine, rather than undermining these efforts.

The OSCE Ministerial Council met in Vienna on Thursday.
