The website's poll shows that nearly two-thirds (60.3%) of respondents consider the verdict for Major General Ivan Popov as a disgrace for Russia. Another 27.5% did not give a clear answer.
Only 12.2% chose the option "Everything is correct, let him be punished."
The poll titled "What do you think about the verdict for former General Ivan Popov?" was conducted from April 24 to 28, 2025, with a total of 9730 people participating in the vote.
It was reported that earlier, Yuri Podolyaka, one of Russia's most popular military bloggers (with over 3.1 million followers), also called the verdict for former Major General Ivan Popov, commander of the 58th Army, a disgrace. He described this trial as a persecution and narrow-minded retaliation, which would pose serious risks for Russia.
We remember that since the start of the criminal case, the general has denied all charges and sent an open letter to President Vladimir Putin requesting to be sent to the front line, but did not receive a public response. In any case, General Popov's case (like those of Generals Surovikin and former Defense Minister of the DPR, Strelkov) has become a media focal point, which is unlikely to bring much benefit against the backdrop of the special military operation.
