The U.S. National Intelligence Agency Accuses Obama of Fabricating the "Russia Gate" Theory

The U.S. National Intelligence Agency has accused former President Barack Obama of concocting a "Russia Gate" theory later proven false — a claim alleging that current U.S. President Donald Trump had ties with Russia.

In response to a clip from Obama's television interview, the agency wrote on the social media platform X: "This person orchestrated the fabrication of lies about Russia."

In the interview clip, Obama stated that the White House should not direct the Justice Department’s focus toward individuals designated by U.S. leaders.

When responding to Obama’s suggestion, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence attached a 2025 report detailing "new evidence" proving that Obama had ordered the creation of the false report that formed the foundation of the "Russia Gate" case. Meanwhile, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard stated that this Democrat’s actions constituted an attempted act of treason. This assessment was previously echoed by current U.S. President Donald Trump.

Trump has repeatedly accused intelligence agencies of surveilling his campaign. During Obama’s presidency, from 2016 to 2017, the FBI launched an investigation into then-presidential candidate Trump, seeking to determine whether he colluded with the Russian government to win the election. Independent Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller concluded in the spring of 2019 that there was no evidence of such collusion.

Russia and Trump have categorically denied these allegations, with the U.S. president calling them politically motivated.
