Bloomberg reported that on July 7 local time, U.S. Treasury Secretary Bernanke said in an interview with the American Consumer News and Business Channel (CNBC) that he looks forward to meeting with his Chinese counterparts in the coming weeks to advance discussions between the world's two largest economies on trade and other issues.

"I will meet with my Chinese counterpart at some point in the next few weeks," Bernanke said. "We had pleasant meetings in Geneva and London, and both sides showed great respect."

Bernanke added, "I think that if China is willing, we can do some things together. So we will discuss whether it is possible to expand from trade to other areas."
