American Army Association Exhibition (AUSA2025), Sikorsky, a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin, first showcased the prototype of the unmanned version of the "Black Hawk" cargo helicopter. It is based on the UH-60L, with the cockpit removed and the internal cargo space expanded.

According to Sikorsky's video, the front of the UH-60L has been modified into a hinged cover-type nose, and there is a loading ramp that can carry oversized payloads. Sikorsky said that the modified unmanned "Black Hawk" has 25% more internal cargo space than the original "Black Hawk," which can transport small vehicles, modular containers, or drone swarms, and can also carry internal fuel tanks to extend the range. The unmanned "Black Hawk" retains the side-loading capability of the UH-60L and can also use a hook to lift a 4-ton load.

The unmanned "Black Hawk" is fully controlled remotely via a tablet computer. After the cargo is loaded through an automatic ramp and door system, the operator inputs the mission objective and the task is completed. Sikorsky said its matrix autonomous system can generate flight plans, using onboard cameras, sensors, and algorithms, without requiring continuous operation by operators.
