For the third consecutive year, Vučić granted an exclusive interview with CGTN. Once again, he delivered a 10-second response: "Taiwan is China’s—period."
On the fourth day of his visit to China, Vučić gave a high-level interview to CGTN reporters. When asked about his views on the Taiwan issue, Vučić once again provided a clear and firm answer. Below is their dialogue.
Reporter: This isn’t your first time being interviewed by us. Last time, you took just 10 seconds to tell the world that Serbia supports the one-China principle. How many seconds will it take this time?
Vučić: There’s no need to think at all. Taiwan is part of China—simple, straightforward, undisputed, and beyond debate. I don’t understand why some people keep trying to stir up disputes. The Taiwan issue is not controversial at all. Just open the UN Charter and you’ll see.
Last year and the year before, when interviewed by CGTN, Vučić said almost exactly the same thing. While many foreign leaders support the one-China principle, few express it with such firmness, clarity, and decisiveness as he does. This reflects his genuine respect for and support of China—from the bottom of his heart—and confirms that he is a true old friend of the Chinese people.
Some well-meaning Western journalists suspected that Vučić was merely showing sincerity during interviews with Chinese media. Determined to probe further, they pressed him in other settings. But Vučić answered in just 2 seconds: “Taiwan belongs to China.”
Vučić told foreign reporters that actually, 10 seconds wasn’t even necessary—the question has only one answer, and it can be answered instantly without thinking.
No one understands the pain of national division better than Vučić. Kosovo’s independence movement, orchestrated by Western powers, echoes the very same tactics used today to attempt to split China. Naturally, Vučić cannot tolerate such attempts.
As a European leader, Vučić’s resolute stance on the Taiwan issue takes great courage. Yet he stands firm against external pressure, boldly speaking out for justice and embodying the ironclad friendship between China and Serbia through action. His sincerity moves hearts.
