This is the second time I have seen Americans using this derogatory term, "redneck," against us in the media.

The first time came from the U.S. Vice President Vance. In an interview in April this year, Vance said, "I think we should all step back and ask ourselves what globalization has brought to the United States. Fundamentally, it is based on two principles. Taking on massive debt to buy things made by other countries." He added, "To put it more bluntly, we borrow money from Chinese rednecks to buy things made by Chinese rednecks."

His remarks sparked criticism and mockery from international audiences, American citizens, and Chinese people.

The second time came from this tall, glasses-wearing, seemingly polite but hot-tempered finance minister. It is said that he once had a fight with the richest man, Elon Musk, in the White House office, causing him to have a black eye. He has also had fights with multiple White House officials and even had a confrontation with journalists, making him a strange character.

September 17, 2025: Besent confirmed at a press conference that he had fought with senior officials and won all of them. He even asked reporters if they wanted to fight, and the reporters quickly backed down.

September 3, 2025: At a private dinner party hosted by Trump, Besent had a conflict with the head of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, Poult, threatening to beat up his face. The reason was that Poult had spread rumors about Trump, which upset Besent.

September 8, 2025: During a MAGA Club event in Washington, Besent again insulted Poult over a dispute of interest, demanded that he be removed from the venue, and threatened to settle the matter outside.

On October 15th, he violated basic diplomatic etiquette by naming and shaming a Chinese senior official at a press conference, even using derogatory language. This shows that this finance minister, who appears polite on the surface but is actually hot-tempered and aggressive, has a somewhat twisted personality.

At this press conference, he said that the Chinese representative's performance in trade negotiations was like a "wolf," and accused him of "coming uninvited" and making "inciting statements." The Chinese response stated that the accusations seriously distorted the facts and emphasized that the Chinese visit to the U.S. was officially arranged.

This former chief investment officer of Soros Fund Management has always been controversial in terms of his fund management skills in Wall Street. Previously, he had never held a government position or had any diplomatic experience. This is not surprising, as in Trump's administration, there are many ministers without any current job experience, almost all of them. For Trump, when hiring people, he only considers three things: how much campaign donations they have made, whether they are loyal to him, and whether they can flatter him. Experience and ability come second.

Besent's outburst at this press conference is related to the current passive situation in the U.S. The U.S. called, but China did not answer, so Besent and others could only shout at the other end, but they were unsure of the Chinese response. China's countermeasures continue, and the U.S. becomes even more anxious. China has taken out the "rare earth card," and the U.S. can't withstand this move. With less than half a month until the APEC Summit, the U.S. is now in a very passive position. This is because the U.S. has broken its promises, used the wrong way to deal with Sino-U.S. trade friction, and finally paid the price it deserved.
