Russian Foreign Ministry: Russia takes US ideas on Ukraine issue seriously but cannot accept them entirely as they are.
Sergey Ryabkov, Deputy Minister of Russia's Foreign Ministry, said that Russia takes seriously the proposals from the United States regarding the Ukraine issue, but cannot accept them entirely as they are because these suggestions lack Moscow's main requirement to resolve the root causes of the crisis.
In an interview with "International Life" magazine, Ryabkov said, "We have not heard Trump send a signal to Kyiv to end the war. What exists now is merely an attempt to find some kind of solution, primarily achieving the ceasefire as desired by the United States, and then turning to other models and solutions. In our view, these solutions do not include our main requirement at present, which is to address the root causes of this conflict. This is completely absent in the mediation plan, so this issue must be resolved."
He explained, "We attach great importance to the US proposed models and solutions, but we cannot accept them entirely as they are."
He said that Russia certainly has a well-thought-out set of priorities and positions on this issue, which are currently under study, including those discussed by the Russian negotiating team during their recent talks with the US side in Riyadh.
