South Korean media: Despite Trump's warning, iPhones produced in India are still shipped to the United States!
On June 6, South Korean media "Today Finance" published an article stating that despite US President Donald Trump's warning, Foxconn is still investing an additional $1.48 billion in India.
It is reported that Foxconn recently invested $1.48 billion through its Singapore branch into its subsidiary located in Tamil Nadu, India.
This investment coincides with Apple's trend of moving its iPhone production center from China to India. During the last earnings conference call, Apple CEO Tim Cook said, "Most of the iPhones sold in the United States in the second quarter of 2025 will be manufactured in India." Meanwhile, China is still producing products for global markets outside the United States.
It is expected that Foxconn's sales in India this fiscal year will more than double to approximately $20 billion. The key factor is the iPhone. According to S&P Global forecasts, US iPhone sales will reach approximately 75.9 million units in 2025, with a significant portion produced in India.
In March this year, India exported 3.1 million iPhones, and this year's goal is to produce 60 million iPhones annually in India. The Indian government estimates that currently about 15% of global iPhone production takes place in India.
However, this trend is not a popular issue in American politics. Recently, US President Donald Trump targeted Apple CEO Tim Cook, publicly stating, "India is doing well on its own. We hope that Apple will manufacture in the United States."
Meanwhile, Apple announced plans to invest $500 billion in the United States over the next four years to build artificial intelligence and server infrastructure, but has not yet revealed any direct plans to move iPhone production to the United States.
