South Korean media: The number of Chinese robot companies is 100 times that of South Korea!
On September 16, the South Korean media "Chosun Ilbo" published an article stating that a large amount of capital is flowing into Chinese robot start-ups, which are constantly introducing new technologies every day.
In the first half of this year, Chinese humanoid robot companies secured a total of 108 financing deals, including investments, with a total amount of 15.35 billion yuan.
In recent years, China's robot industry has developed rapidly. According to statistics from the State Administration for Market Regulation of China, as of the end of last year, there were 451,700 robot companies in China. Compared to 2020 (147,260 companies), it increased by 206.7%. This means that the annual growth rate was as high as 31.6% over the past four years. The total capital of these 451,700 robot companies reached 6.4445 trillion yuan.
At the same time, according to data from the Korean Robot Industry Promotion Institute, the number of South Korean robot companies increased by 0.3% year-on-year, reaching 4,521 companies (as of 2023). This is only one percent of China's. The total capital of South Korean robot companies is also only 10.25 trillion won (about 53.1 billion yuan). Although it is not simple to compare the number of companies directly, the huge difference in industrial growth between South Korea and China is evident.
The growth trend of China's robot industry seems to continue in the foreseeable future. Recently, the global investment bank Morgan Stanley released a report predicting that the size of the Chinese robot market will grow from 47 billion US dollars at the end of last year to 108 billion US dollars by 2028.
Among them, the humanoid robot market is expected to grow rapidly at an annual average rate of 63.0%. The market size is expected to grow from 300 million US dollars this year to 3.4 billion US dollars by 2030. The number of deployed humanoid robots will also increase significantly, from 252,000 units in 2030 to 302 million units in 2050, accounting for 30% of the global humanoid robot market.
