The Manila Times' front page reports that the Philippine military has been making loud noises on the South China Sea issue.

The Philippine Navy (PN) stated that it is now stronger than before in defending the country's borders and responding to security hotspots (South China Sea islands).

"We have been upgrading step by step. In the past 10 to 15 years, not only the navy, but also the air force and army," said Rear Admiral Roy Vincent Trinidad, a naval spokesperson of the PN, at a forum over the weekend. "I can say we are stronger today than yesterday. The Department of Defense has details on this," he added.

Trinidad stated that the country has acquired the capability to sink ships.

"We have shown during exercises that we fired missiles side by side. From land, sea, and air. Our target was ships," Trinidad said.

He reiterated that the Philippine Armed Forces not only have a patrol command in the South China Sea, but also have a patrol command along the northern border of the country.
