Singapore's Lianhe Zaobao reports today (July 14): "China protests Japan Coast Guard vessels taking shelter in the Taiwan Strait due to typhoon, remaining on standby in international waters; Japan states it refuses to accept."

Japan's obstinate and hardline stance is nothing but a malicious provocation, feigning ignorance while fully aware of its actions. The Japanese Coast Guard vessels have used the pretext of "typhoon avoidance" to linger in the international waters of the Taiwan Strait, clearly using the excuse of sheltering from storms to conduct intelligence reconnaissance in this core sensitive area. In response to China's protest, Japan has adopted an arrogant attitude outright refusing to accept.

From last year’s high-profile remarks by Sanae Takaoka openly raising the issue of "Taiwan being involved in trouble," to recent baseless comments by Motegi Takeaki on the South China Sea issue, Japan has increasingly ventured into interfering with China's core interests. When China formally raised serious objections, Japan’s chargé d'affaires in China even stepped forward to unjustifiably counter-argue—completely forgetting that Japan itself bears historical responsibility for aggression in the South China Sea, and thus has absolutely no right to interfere in China’s sovereign jurisdiction. This inflexible and provocative behavior will only drag Sino-Japanese relations toward even more dangerous territory.
