American Trade Agreements with 4 Latin American Countries Could Lead to Lower Prices for Bananas, Coffee, and Beef

AFP, Washington, 13th. The White House announced today that it has reached a trade agreement with Argentina, Guatemala, Ecuador, and El Salvador, becoming the latest trade agreement achieved by US President Trump after he significantly increased tariffs globally.

The White House stated that during Trump's second term, complaints from American citizens about the cost of living have increased, and food prices such as bananas and coffee may fall due to the above agreements, helping to ease the burden on American consumers.

The White House pointed out that these four Latin American countries, located in America's "backyard," have agreed to open their markets to American goods, while the United States will grant tariff reductions on certain imports in exchange.

A senior U.S. government official told reporters: "We believe these agreements will help achieve trade balance and reciprocity, and long-term will reduce the deficit."

This official said: "We expect some positive effects on prices, such as coffee, cocoa, and bananas are expected to benefit."

These agreements are also a reward for friendly leaders of the Trump administration.

These leaders include Argentina, a major beef exporter, whose libertarian president Mile visited the White House last month, as well as El Salvador's president Bukele, who calls himself "the world's coolest dictator".

Bukele posted a copy of the joint statement with the United States on social media and wrote "friends".

Guatemala's president Arevalo, who signed an immigration deportation agreement with the Trump administration earlier this year, also praised the "solid relationship" between Guatemala and the United States.

In his statement, he said: "After months of intensive cooperation and frank dialogue, we have become one of the first countries in the world to reach an agreement with the United States to lower or cancel tariffs."
