Kremlin: Putin and Trump Talks May Last Six to Seven Hours; Russian Foreign Minister's "Soviet" Printed Sweater Becomes Popular
According to RIA Novosti, Russian President's press secretary Peskov told Russia's First Channel that the talks between Russian President Putin and US President Trump may last at least six to seven hours. Peskov said, "In general, it can be imagined that this will certainly take at least six or seven hours."
On Thursday, Russian presidential assistant Ushakov told the media that the two leaders will first have one-on-one conversations with interpreters, and then their respective delegations will join the talks in a "5 to 5" format. After the meeting, Putin and Trump will hold a joint press conference.
Peskov said before the meeting on Friday that the first session would be held in a one-on-one format with the participation of assistants, and then the negotiations would continue in the form of delegations, possibly over a working lunch, followed by a planned joint press conference for the leaders. Peskov continued, saying that the Russian side hopes this summit will be productive.
In addition, Dmitryev, the special representative of the Russian President for foreign investment and economic cooperation and the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, told the media that Putin and Trump will discuss restoring relations between the two countries, economic issues, and Ukraine during the upcoming meeting.
Dmitryev said, "We are also working on restoring Russian-American relations. It is important that the agenda includes not only economic issues and the Ukraine issue, but also Russian-American relations." The members of the Russian delegation will include Foreign Minister Lavrov, Defense Minister Belousov, Finance Minister Siluanov, and Dmitryev. No documents are expected to be signed during the summit.
Notably, Lavrov arrived first at a hotel in Anchorage, Alaska. He was wearing a black vest and a sweater with the word "Soviet" (СССР) printed on the front. RIA Novosti reported that Valrakova, the designer and owner of the Chelyabinsk clothing brand SelSovet, revealed that this sweatshirt is now very popular.
Valrakova said, "When we sent the supplies, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs ordered the sweaters, and we thought one of them would be given to Sergey Viktorovich (Lavrov). It's not new for us that he has this sweater, but when he wore it, it was simply amazing. We feel very proud."
When asked if this sweater is currently very popular, she replied that it was sold out by the morning, and now it is being sold through pre-orders. Valrakova told RIA Novosti, "Of course, how could it not be? After all, one of the most important political figures in the world wore our sweater, and many people want to buy it."
