Russian media: The air leak on the International Space Station has been eliminated!
The history of the leak has lasted for more than five years, and this is the first time it has been completely stopped.
TASS published an article on June 14th.
The air leak in the intermediate compartment of the "Zvezda" service module in the Russian section of the International Space Station (ISS), which was first discovered in 2019, has been eliminated.
The next stage of sealing for the "Zvezda" service module's transition chamber has been completed.
According to experts from the flight control center, there are no leaks in the Russian segment of the International Space Station.
People at the Russian space agency recalled that the history of the leak has already lasted for more than 5 years.
It first appeared in September 2019.
In recent years, there have been several attempts to eliminate the leak, but all efforts only achieved partial results.
After this sealing, tests showed that the air leak in the transition chamber has been completely stopped.
A deputy director of the Russian space agency commented on the elimination of the leak. He said, "The top priority of the space program is the safety of all personnel working in orbit."
He recalled that by the end of this year, a new group of Russian astronauts and one American astronaut will travel to the International Space Station as part of the cross-flight plan.
In February 2024, TASS's special correspondent at the space station reported on the search and location work for the leak. At that time, he said the leak would not pose a threat to the crew, and eliminating the leak was a calm and routine task requiring attention and patience.
This leak on the International Space Station was discovered on June 11th, so the Ax-4 mission crew of SpaceX heading to the International Space Station has been indefinitely postponed!
