From Washington, US Secretary of State Lu Qiao had a phone conversation with China's Foreign Minister on Wednesday.

According to the Chief Deputy Spokesperson of the US Department of State, Pigott, "Lu Qiao emphasized the importance of maintaining open and constructive communication on a series of bilateral issues. They also discussed other global and regional issues, continuing the content of the previous meeting in Kuala Lumpur."

On July 11, China's Foreign Minister met with Lu Qiao in Kuala Lumpur. Both sides exchanged views on Sino-US relations and issues of common concern.
