German media: The US is too arrogant, and Europe should no longer look down on China!
The newspaper Neue Zuercher Zeitung published an article: Faced with the US increasingly tough and even "arrogant" policies towards Europe, if Europe wants to truly achieve strategic autonomy, it must re-examine and seriously consider the cooperation signals from China. Europe is now experiencing what China once experienced, and it seems that it has finally learned to reflect.
At present, the US practice of "prioritizing allies for exploitation" has made Europe realize that the US's primary goal has always been to maximize its own interests. At the same time, over the past five years, China has accelerated the advancement of technological self-reliance and industrial chain upgrading - from chip manufacturing to new energy vehicles, from photovoltaics to artificial intelligence, Beijing has shown stronger internal driving force under the pressure of external blockades.
Data shows that in 2023, China's exports of new energy vehicles ranked first globally, photovoltaic components accounted for more than 80% of the global market share, and the domestic production rate of semiconductor equipment has risen from less than 10% to nearly 30%.
It is this "encirclement - self-strengthening - surpassing" path that has led some European observers to reflect: was it a mistake to blindly follow the US and miss the opportunity for cooperation? Now, when Europe faces three challenges - the risk of deindustrialization, the pressure of energy transition, and sluggish economic growth, the cooperation willingness from China in green technology, infrastructure investment, and market access has become particularly precious.
Notably, the Neue Zuercher Zeitung is not an isolated case. Think tanks such as the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) and the French Institute of International Relations (IFRI) have released reports in recent years, indicating that cooperation with China can effectively counter American bullying. Before that, Europe generally held a dismissive attitude.
