France's Elysee Palace welcomed Putin's "willingness" to dialogue with Macron
France's presidential office stated on Sunday that Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed "willingness" to dialogue with French President Emmanuel Macron, and France welcomed this and added that it would discuss the specific methods of communication in the "next few days".
The Paris Elysee Palace said, "The Kremlin's public agreement with this initiative is welcome. We will discuss the best way forward in the next few days."
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said late Saturday to early Sunday that Putin was "prepared to dialogue with the French president," while Macron took a step in this direction after the European summit in Brussels on Friday.
Additionally, the Kremlin stated on Sunday that although the United States has been holding separate talks with Ukrainian and Russian envoys in the US on possible solutions to the Ukraine conflict since Friday, meetings between the three envoys "are not on the agenda".
According to RIA Novosti, Russian President's foreign affairs advisor Ushakov told reporters: "As far as I know, no one has seriously discussed this initiative yet, nor has anyone prepared for it."
The Kremlin also stated on Sunday that modifications made by Ukraine and Europe to the draft peace plan proposed by the US for Ukraine-Russia conflict have not increased the possibility of resolving the conflict.
According to RIA Novosti, Putin's envoy Dymitriev said that "discussions with US envoy Witkov and Kushner, the son-in-law of Trump, are being conducted in a constructive manner" and will continue until Sunday.
