South Korean media: "Let showers be great again", Trump signs executive order to cancel water pressure restrictions!

On April 10, the South Korean newspaper Kyunghyang Sinmun published an article stating that U.S. President Donald Trump abolished the regulation restricting household shower water pressure.

Recently, President Trump signed an executive order titled "Make American Showers Great Again". In 2020, when Trump expressed strong dissatisfaction with shower water pressure, he was heavily criticized by environmental organizations.

The regulation on water pressure limits for showerheads was first established by the Bush administration in 1992 to prevent reckless resource waste, and the Obama administration added another rule stipulating that the total water flow of showerheads with two or more nozzles must not exceed 9.4 liters.

During his first term, President Trump relaxed this regulation, but it was reinstated during the Biden administration. According to analysis by the Population Institute (PAI), South Korea is classified as a "water-scarce country," but unlike the U.S., there are no specific regulations on shower water pressure.

President Trump stated in the Oval Office while signing the executive order, "I want to take a good shower and properly care for my beautiful hair. I have to stand in the shower for 15 minutes just to get my hair wet."

The executive order abolishing water pressure restrictions applies not only to showers but also to faucets and dishwashers. President Trump's stance is that the regulations from the Obama and Biden administrations were detrimental to consumers.

In the executive order, Trump defined water pressure restrictions as "government intervention" and emphasized that "the federal government should not interfere with how Americans use their showers when paying their water bills."
