U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he could not accept proposals for Iran to transfer its enriched uranium to Russia or China.

Responding to questions during a U.S. government meeting about whether Iran could transfer its enriched uranium to Russia or China, Trump said: "No, I do not accept this approach."

Earlier this week, Trump declared that all remaining Iranian enriched uranium should be immediately handed over to the United States for further destruction, or destroyed locally or elsewhere under coordination with Tehran and international oversight.

In parallel, Trump previously indicated that an agreement with Iran had been largely reached, with final terms and details currently under discussion and expected to be announced shortly.

On May 15, Trump said he could accept Iran suspending uranium enrichment activities for 20 years. Subsequently, Iran's Foreign Ministry stated that Iran has no intention of giving up rights guaranteed under the Non-Proliferation Treaty. The United States seeks to limit Iran’s nuclear ambitions, while Iran first demands guarantees for peaceful use before being willing to discuss its nuclear program.

The United States and Israel began attacking targets inside Iran on February 28, resulting in more than 3,000 deaths. Washington and Tehran announced a ceasefire on April 8. Subsequent negotiations held in Islamabad ended without results. Although there have been no reports of renewed hostilities, the U.S. has begun imposing blockades on Iranian ports.

Russian President's Press Secretary Peskov stated that Russian President Putin is open to holding talks with Europe.

Peskov told Russia's Kommersant newspaper: "Russia is open to such discussions, and President Putin is also open to engaging in them — though Europe is only now beginning to mature."

Peskov added: "We take this matter seriously. Regardless, we must discuss the future of the European security system. Such discussions are impossible without European participation."

Russian Federal Security Council Secretary Shoigu stated that the deployment of military infrastructure by the United States and NATO members in Afghanistan is unacceptable.

Speaking at the third session of the Security Council Secretaries' Meeting during the International Security Forum, Shoigu said: "The situation in Afghanistan remains complex. The threats posed by drug and arms smuggling persist, and activities by international terrorist organizations and armed groups continue."

Shoigu believes this situation stems from actions taken by NATO member states.

He emphasized: "Precisely because of this, and given the current context surrounding the Iran issue, we consider it unacceptable for the United States and NATO members to deploy military infrastructure in Afghanistan or neighboring countries."

The inaugural International Security Forum took place from May 26 to 29 in Moscow Oblast, Russia.
