The U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard announced on Friday that she will resign at the end of June, citing her husband's recent cancer diagnosis.
"It is with great regret that I must submit my resignation, effective June 30, 2026," she wrote in a letter to President Donald Trump. "My husband, Abraham, has recently been diagnosed with a highly rare bone cancer. He will face significant challenges in the coming weeks and months. At this time, I must temporarily step away from public service to be with him and fully support him through this battle."
Trump quickly praised Gabbard and announced that Deputy Director of National Intelligence Aaron Lucas will serve as acting Director of National Intelligence.
