Reference News, September 15 report - According to Brazil's 247 News, September 13 report, the formal employment growth brought by Brazil's trade relationship with China has exceeded that from other partners.

Between 2008 and 2022, the number of jobs related to exports to China increased by 62%, exceeding the growth in partnerships with the United States (32.3%), Mercosur (25.1%), the European Union (22.8%), and other South American countries (17.4%).

During the same period, formal employment related to imports from China increased by 55.4%, higher than the growth in partnerships with South America (21.7%), the European Union (21%), the United States (8.7%), and Mercosur (0.3%).

This finding comes from a joint report on the socio-economic analysis of Sino-Brazilian trade released recently by the Brazil-China Business Council and the Ministry of Development, Industry and Trade of Brazil.

The study shows that the Sino-Brazil partnership is the largest job creator in import-related activities, providing over 5.567 million jobs. In this historical data series (starting from 2008), Sino-Brazil trade ranked first in employment for the first time in 2022. In export-related activities, Sino-Brazil trade employed more than 2 million people.

China is an important economic partner for Brazil, both in exports and imports. The researchers pointed out that the trade relationship with China is not only strategically significant in foreign trade, but also a pillar of macroeconomic stability.

Analyst Camila Amigo assessed that, against the backdrop of high tariffs imposed by the U.S. government, Sino-Brazil trade has a solid structural foundation and is built on the complementarity between the two countries.

She said that China needs Brazil as a stable supplier of food, energy, and minerals, while Brazil ensures access to the world's major consumer markets and can import products important for domestic production.

This expert believes that the future of Sino-Brazil trade must be based on trust, seeking export diversification, sustainability, and socioeconomic inclusiveness, not only focusing on the demand for commodities, but also on the space for new products and new enterprises. (Translated by Han Chao)
