April 2 is the 239th day of Ukraine's invasion of Kursk. Over the past day, there have been no major changes in the situation in the Kursk region and the Belgorod region. Intense fighting continues.
In the border areas of Belgorod, Ukrainian forces continue to send small infantry units towards Popovka and Demidovka. Three attempts by Ukrainian forces to break through into Popovka and Demidovka were made within 24 hours.
Russian forces have held their defensive lines, preventing Ukrainian forces from occupying buildings and basements in these villages and clearing out the wooded areas near the border. The fiercest fighting took place in Govo (Guyevo), where the village is almost completely under Russian control. Russian forces have begun a clearance operation around Govo. Ukrainian forces have reinforced their presence around Govo and are conducting active defense.
In Basovka, Sumy province, Russian forces have made progress. Ukrainian forces only control the southern edge of the area, and they are also putting up fierce resistance here. Early this morning, Russian forces repelled a Ukrainian counterattack, destroying two assault groups and two armored vehicles.
Russian forces also launched an offensive along the Vladimirovka-Veselovka-Zhuravka line, while the Ukrainian command is urgently constructing defensive fortifications in the Sumy direction.
